On 23rd March 2010 the Evening School of Erlang begins in Krakow. The Evening School of Erlang is a series of Erlang classes which take place twice a week. It is aimed at full time students who are interested in programming in Erlang.
Classes consist of lectures and exercises, during which participants will be solving programming tasks. The first class will be held on 26th March. Dates of the next classes will be provided at the first meeting. During the classes, each participant should have his/her own laptop. Participation in activities is free for full time students.
At the end of the Evening School of Erlang each participant will be able to to take the Erlang Foundation Certificate, organized by Erlang Solutions.

NKtalk (Krakow User Group, Poland)
Our first Krakow Erlang User Group Meeting in 2010 will take place next Tuesday, 26th January. The meeting will be dedicated to NKtalk. NKtalk is a web-based IM service, which Nasza Klasa (NK), Poland's biggest social networking site, with over 13 million active users, launched in mid-January this year.
The presentation will cover the technical challenges which the developers faced while creating the service. Bartek Puzon will explain why the Erlang language was chosen. He will also describe how communication within NKtalk works and he will talk about the usage of XMPP in web applications.
The presentation will be held on 26th January 2010 at 18:00 in Room 126 at the office building on Al. 3 Maja 9 in Krakow. For directions, visit our Contact page. After the presentation we will go to a nearby students club, Zaczek for drinks and snacks. Admission is free but advance registration is required.

Erlang Factory Lite Krakow 2009 (Krakow, Poland)

Bridging the gap between Jabber/XMPP and Gadu-Gadu (Krakow User Group, Poland)
On Wednesday, 30th September 2009, during the Krakow Erlang User Group Meeting Mietek will give a talk about bridging the gap between Jabber/XMPP and Gadu-Gadu by way of extending ejabberd. Starting with an overview of the XMPP architecture and protocol, the talk will continue with tutorials on writing ejabberd modules and interfacing Erlang with C libraries, to conclude with a discussion of Mietek's XMPP/GG gateway module.

- Dispelling the mysteries of presence subscriptions;
- Inter-protocol communication with gateways.

Interlude - introduction to Erlang ports:
- Tutorial on writing ports in C:
- Simple example (interactive);
- fgg - a port for communicating with Gadu-Gadu, built on libgadu.

- mod_gg - a gateway module between XMPP and GG.

Erlang Web (Krakow, Poland)
Erlang Web (Krakow, Poland)
Next Tuesday, 14 July 2009 a meeting of the Krakow Erlang User Group will take place. Michal Zajda will give a talk on Erlang Web, which is an open source web application framework for Erlang programming language: http://www.erlang-web.org/. Michal will present the basic features of Erlang Web and will give a demo on how to create the application.
The meeting will start at 17:00, in the office building on Al. 3 Maja 9 in Krakow, Room 126. For directions, visit our Contact page. After the presentation, we will go to Zaczek, students club , where we will talk about interesting projects which were presented at the Erlang Factory conference in London.

Certification Exam (Krakow, Poland)
Erlang Training and Consulting organizes exam, which tests the candidate’s understanding of the core Erlang programming language. Successful candidates gain Erlang Foundation Certificate. You can find out more about the certification programme here.
The exam follows classes of the Erlang University, which was hosted by ETC during March and April and gave a chance to study basics of the Erlang programming language.

The Academic IT Festival is an annual international conference directed especially to people from the whole Poland who show the passionate interest in computer technology. This year Erlang Training and Consulting will be giving a talk and a tutorial on concurrent programming in Erlang. During the Polish Java User Group meeting Michal Slaski will be presenting the concurrent functional programming language Erlang and its rapidly growing community. He will describe what is the concurrency oriented programming and how to get nearly linear speed up on multicore CPUs. He will also discuss building scalable and high available systems with Erlang. The talk will be held at the AGH University of Science and Technology and will start at 19.00, for more information check here (in Polish)...
